tattoo pain in different areasJ-Slo - 2007-05-03 09:27:28 Uhr
Hi everyone. This is my first post here.
I just got my first tattoo a couple weeks ago. I've wanted one for 12 years but never could come up with a final idea I liked enough to actually get done.
It isnt that big....took about 20 minutes. My question is about pain in different location when getting them done. The one I have is on the inside of my left ankle just under my ankle bone. It didnt hurt much but I had to clench my fists and teeth a few times...overall wouldnt think twice about going through it again.
I am getting one next week around my left calf (been planning that one for about 8 months) and some time in the next 6 months to a year I want to get one across my whole upper back and possibly up to my shoulders(been planning that one for 8 years). So what I am wondering how pain would compare to the one I've got as these will take way longer to do. I'm not worried about it as I have a pretty high pain tolerance...just curious I guess.
Thanks

It all depends on the person who gets it. We all have different pain tolerance. Things can hurt on you, but not on others and the other way around.
My upperback tattoo didnt really hurt, but I sure felt it. As my tattooist said that it was the most painful place he had gotten a tattoo. So it all depends on your body I guess.

It's a combination of pain tolerance and stamina/endurance. Some people can take higher levels of pain, but only for short amounts of time.
Especially for the larger backpiece, it will likely take a few hours if not a few separate sittings.
As for location, it's like Plasticine said. Two people can get the exact same tattoo in the same place and it could be painless for one while the other is in agony.
