Getting a Tat

BlackWolf99 - 2006-02-26 09:04:56 Uhr

I'm planning on getting a tattoo soon, in fact have been allowed to for about half a year now.. i had something picked out but changed my mind...i was just wondering what everyones input was on how important it is to choose a tattoo that means something to you. and if anyone has any regrets about tattoos they've gotten.

You really gotta be sure on what you want. It is going to stay on your body forever right? Well, unless you get it removed, but if its really what you want, you won't have to go through with that. Ive been thinking aobut what I want for some time now, and I even ended up changing my mind after deciding i had wanted a series of words. I was thinking about that for about 3 years before i finally ended up changing my mind. Something as easy as that can make you regret your work. As long as you think of your tat as something you are passionate about, that represents you in some way, shape or form, you'll always be satisfied with it. Just make sure you don't get something just because its "cool". It may not be so "cool" to you in a couple of years. All the best to ya!

I would probably recomend you to get something simple as a first tattoo. Atleast if your planning on getting one soon. I think that advanced big tattoos needs a lot more time to think through before getting them done! Of course you should always think any tattoo through carefully. I got a pretty simple design resently, i had been thinking on getting a star for about 6 months and then i made my own design kind of on it by making the star "not complete" so to say, and then i gave it another 6 months before i finnaly made it. I can really say now that im glad that i thought it through that much, and even though i did think it through i still felt after, "was this really what i wanted?" but 5 more min in that attitude and then i thought, YES it was!!! :P And now im living happily ever after. I hope.. :P As for the meaning in the tattoo.. That is important for me atleast. I dont think that i ever could do a tattoo that ment something that wasnt in terms with who i am. And be REALLY carefull with tattooing symbols that mean stuff!!! I know i can change my mind on who i am and what i think many times each year, at least i think it is so when your still young, (as me..). So i chose a neutral symbol that symbolised the light it extrudes, it honours lost souls (by beeing painted in many toombs) and much more, but with a meaning that i think can be nice regardless of who you are, or who i may become.. Anyways. As long as you feel that it is right for you just do it, never let any body else make the decision for you. Get tattooed be happy! =)

tattoo's are art work you let some one put on your body.your body becomes a living cavas for the artis you choice to do your tat.you should feel comfortable and enjoy looking at the art work you have put on your body.if other people don't like your tat. they don't have to look at it, but you will have to look at it every day for the rest of your life.you have to like the piece of art and want to look at it for the rest of your life.i have several tats my self ( 9 to be exact ) i do not regret getting one of them put on me.i choice them to be put on me. i'm not very good at wording stuff. so i'll leaveyou saying check out rachelle and jorhajnes imput they point out some very good facts. be safe an happy tattooing

i have 12 large tattoos, i have only planned one of them. most of the time i just walk into the shop, find somthing i like, change the tattoo a little bit and get it done. i dont regret any of my tattoos. somtimes buying on impulse is a good thing. remember, whatever catches your eye at a tattoo shop, will catch the eye of others when its on your skin

I got tattoo drawn on my sholder 8 months ago. It was my first one. It is quite big for first timer :) But i don't regret it. I am planning one more in the future. In 2-3 months. Watch for that japanese simbols. Because simbols puted together, have a lot of meanings. For the first time, pick up something not so big. I picked up tribals wich are goins from my back on my sholder and on my arm and from arm and sholder to the front to my boob :) And i can continiue it. Down to my arm, down to my back and down to my chest. That is good if you want to have more than one tattoo :) And remember, when you choose it, you must not like it. But love it. And that is all it counts. Bye

Yeah you need too love it. If you are uncertain about your tattoo, you can have your tattoo artist too look at it, after all they are professinals

That tattoo I got is extremely personal to me, so I know I'll never regret it. Although I don't really look down on it persay, I wouldn't suggest getting something offr the wall. If you do, make sure it can relate to something, or you at least LOVE IT TO DEATH. Because from love, goes to like, goes to despise and regret. Totally get something that'll mean something to you or something you know, and I mean know, you'll love forever. My roommate started getting tattoos about three months ago and now has seven. He got one every week for the longest and he's already regretting the first few, which is ashame because he got them off the wall and very impulsively. Only one of them was personal to him.
