Not sure what to do. Please advise. Thanks :)

Hello everyone, Hope all is well. After wanting my navel piecred for 7 yrs a finally gathered the guts to do it (I'm not good with pain, TeeHee). So a year ago (4-4-03) I got it done, I was so happy I showed it off n everything. Unfortunatly the place I got it done didn't tell me ANYTHING other than to clean it twice a day. I did the best I could but after a couple of months a little bubbly formed on the side of it... when I touched it, it felt as though there was liquid in it... which I thought was puss... so I would squeeze it every once n a while (when i cleaned my piercing) n puss would come out aswell as blood and it hurt, a lot. After a couple of months of that it just got worse (the bubble got bigger n it hurt more) so on 1-4-04 I took it out. I was so sad, and I Can't Wait to get it repierced. But this time I wanna do it The Right Way. I'm so glad I found this site I read all about tight pants n how to use a barbell instead of a hoop (which I got the hoop b/c I didn't know better, and yes it did get crooked after a while). What I still would like to know is what was that bubble? And how can I prevent it from happenening again (when i re-pierce)? How long do I have to wait to repierce? And Most Important... is it true that it hurts More to pierce through scar tissue (a closed hole)?? Thanks for your time, hope you can help me. Safe n Happy piercings everyone :-p

it hurts more to pierce thru scar tissue,. wear loose clothing to allow it to heal, go to a studio that offers aftercare, aftercare is a neccessity and it is wot i have over the local market, the other shop doesn t do it so i spend quite alot of time sorting problems, a good aftercare service sud be: you get pierced, get told/advise how and wen to clean it, you get the correct solution to clean it with, and you also get a follow up check up appointment, were if neccessary a smaller jewel is inserted, (if the swelling has went down). a reputable piercer should never reuse initial piercing jewellery. the "bubble" is known as a skin tag and is easily dealy with if done correstly, very few studios offer this service. i learnt it off a minor surgeon (who is a very good customer). it is caused by a build up of pressure from the bar and is more comman in crooked piercing and those done with bcrs. essentially it is trapped discharge which has become trapped and cant escape from the piercing, thus the "bubble" effect. hope this helps!!
