Protect the PeopleBlackWolf99 - 2006-06-29 02:39:43 Uhr
Hello, I think it is time for members of the piercing community to help protect the people of the public. I'm Talking about piercing stores at the Mall. Piercing Pagoda, ect.. Which we all know use piercing guns. I think we should all post warning signs at the piercing pagodas, warning mall patrons of the dangers of having their ears pierced with a gun. Sure, piercing pagoda will obviously not allow this. But i thought it out. Mcdonalds and Burger King are required to post the facts about their food in a place anyone can easily see it. So Why should the same not be for piercings? which could be far more dangerous...i don't think a hamburger can transmits aids.. I suggest we all do this. Anyone who agrees and has any ideas of what to do i would appreciate replies. My biggest problems is finding out who to talk to to make it possible. help would be great thanks.

I absolutely agree - guns are evil!
Although I had a couple done with a gun it was not until afterwards I found out that guns are not safe and certainly not clean. I was angry at the shop for not giving me the choice, as I know they used needles too but only if you ask for it - though it was a very good shop usually.
Since then, I've had everything done at tattoo studios.
I know that guns are slowly being phased out, but not quick enough. I feel sick whenever I pass a cheap shop that offers cheap piercings with a gun.
But, I haven't a clue who to ask for help on this one - I guess you could talk to these mall shops to place a sign with the dangers of using a gun and in failing that go to the newspapers.... ????
Perhaps an outright protest would be fun..!! :)

"Mcdonalds and Burger King are required to post the facts about their food in a place anyone can easily see it. So Why should the same not be for piercings?"
Because there are government agencies like the FDA regulating this. There is no agency controlling piercings/tattoos as well as they regulate food.

There is no significant link between piercings and AIDS. The biggest disease problem is Hepatitis, and that is rare. Of course the biggest medical problem is infection and the people will remove the jewelry which will trap the infection under the skin.

I think the AIDS problem is kinda exagerated.
it's a bit hard to transmit the disease with a "piercing" gun cuz no part of the gun touches the ear. only the jewellery.
besides that.. i hate piercing guns. that aint no piercing. that's torture. it's danger for the society. here, in Bulgaria, in some beauty salons the same girls that do the waxing pierce NOSES! NAVELS! even EYEBROWS with $%!@# piercing guns (i've heard about tongues getting pierced with a gun, but i think they lied to me, that i cant even imagine how it'd be done..)!!!!!! there must be a law to protect the clients and they should ban piercing guns. i've had my lobes pierced with a gun, but i had this one lobe done with a needle. it was perfect. it's a complete lie that it hurts less with a gun. nope.. heals twice the time and hurts twice as much.
let me go back to the aids problem.. theoretically it's possible, but I do believe that u should worry if u go to a good specialized piercing studio (not hair studio or a beauty salon!!) or do it urself or an experienced friend of yours. just watch out where u get pierced and if its some stinky old garage - run for ur life!!!:P
