what should I do?

z3n - 2008-12-01 20:36:45 Uhr

I just got 2 piercings on my helix a few days ago. While cleaning it yesteday, one of the piercings started to bleed profusely and it took some time for the bleeding to stop. My other piercing is fine and I've never had this problem before. Is this normal? What should I do?

Well, I'm pretty sure there is nothing serious. I came across such a problem when I got my 2g flesh tunnels. I actually stretched them from 18g to 2g at once...The funny thing is that there was no blood at all (and no pain btw, really). But one day later the right lobe started to bleed profusely, and I spent about 30 min trying to stop it. Then nothing of the sort happened again. I believe when you got your helix pierced some blood accumulated around the puncture and then just came out...I doubt it will bleed again. So just keep cleaning the helix and don’t worry. Well, I’m not good at giving advice...just wanted to share my experience. Hopefully it will help. Take care.

bleeding occurs when blood vessels are broken/damaged. it's possible for a piercing to bleed a short period after the piercing itself, as the wound is still fresh and might easily reopen. it's not something you should worry about. if a major vein had been pierced, you would know that right after getting pierced. when you get two or more piercings (especially through cartilage) at once it's natural for them to take a bit more time to heal and problems like this might happen more often in the beginning. if you want to speed up the healing process you shout take some vitamins (i don't remember what exactly) and zinc tablets. just be careful while cleaning and don't put too much pressure on the piercings. best cleaning method for me is sea salt soaking (hot). it doesn't put pressure on the piercings and sucks out all the "dirt" inside. all you need to do after that is remove anything around the holes under running water. it might be some lymph stuck around the jewelry but it will be softer after the soaking so it should be easy to remove. i guess those are the main things you should know about bleeding and how to avoid it... i hope those bits of advises could help
