Cool nick! Love SOAD too...
Now, to your message, I'd say don't panic. The main thing with every piercing is your body's capacity to heal properly
What you're doing is just fine, I'd check to make sure the hole not too much to the front, there's always the risk that the jewelry will cut the skin
Keep in mind that, if you got poor quality jewelry, your saliva could cause a bad chemical reaction with it and that's never pleasant
Wait and see, check with someone who knows well
Tygon's also a good choice if you want to change it after it's healed enough. Thene again, check with a professional and responsible piercer
You can also check with a doctor to recommend you some vitamins and stuff to enhance your body's defenses so it will heal faster
Regards

I got mine pierced about a month ago, and for me the guy gave me good instructions how to take care of it. During the healing time which is around a month, you need to clean your mouth every time you put something else than water in your mouth. So I'd suggest everytime yyou eat clean your mouth with some alcohol-FREE mouthwash (alcohol irretates the piercing). And of course brush your teeth at least twice a day + use dental floss. Also after the piercing stops being sore it's good to brush it daily with a soft toothbrush as plaque builds up easily. You can also try a q-tip dipped into mouthwash, that also works.
And since your piercing is still fresh you should avoid smoking, drinking alcohol at least for a week, also no oral sex...
So here's how i've been taking care of mine, i just visited the piercer the other day to change the jewellery and he said it's been healing great!
Good luck with yours and have a great summer :)
