Alright, as far as aftercare goes this is what you need to know.
1. Clean two to three times a day with anti-bacterial hand soap ( Or I highly suggest using H2-Ocean products)
2. Don't touch it or play with it unless you JUST washed your hands. your hands are dirty and dirt causes infection.
3. No swimming in lakes or ponds (the Ocean is fine), dirty water is bad and can cause infection, which leads me to my next statement... No baths, you can take a shower, but all the dirt off of your body just sits in the water in the bath tub and that can cause infection too.
4. Navel piercings take a long time to heal, so I don't suggest changing the jewlery that it was pierced with for at least 3 months.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask me.

Second the long healing part- mine took longer than every other piecing ive had including a couple of surface piercings. Its such a high movement area and can be prone to rejection or at least a bit of migration.

I totally agree!!! When I was researching this piercing myself, I read something that said you basically need to baby this piercing for it to heal correctly, and with no problems. I took that to heart and never had any problems with my belly ring... it has been almost 6 years now for me.

I used to soak it in a shot glass filled with warm salt water (the sea salt in the blue container with the whale on it) once or twice a day for about a year after I got it pierced. I did not wear pants with high waists that would irriate the piercing. Most importantly, I wash the piercing with saline solution (the cheapest multi-purpose saline solution you can find... I used to be able to get it for $1.44 at Target but now they sell it in two-packs) EVERY SINGLE DAY. Only recently did I have problems with itching, but that was either due to a too-large piece of jewelry or I might have gotten hair dye near the piercing (ooops). I took the ring out for a day, put some moisturizer on it, and only had a little trouble getting the jewelry back in afterwards. I'm glad I only waited a day, however, because it was actually starting to close up on the top hole!!

I never ever, ever pull on my ring and try not to touch it too much. I treat it with care because I love it so much and want to have it for a very long time. I have a navel-pierced friend who would wear high-waisted, tight pants, pull on her piercing jokingly, and then wonder why it got infected. She took it out for a day or two (after 5 years) and it closed up, according to her, so she eventually got it re-pierced next to the scar, but she said it really hurt. And yes, she still wears the tight waists and pulls on it. (She also had to take her tragus piercing out last year because it got infected. I am beginning to see a pattern here.)

Anyway, that's my two cents :) Be prepared to baby your piercing, and you will do well!!! I only had a few days of discomfort after my initial piercing.
