I have the side of my lip pierced and I had a ring in and it rubbed alot so I changed it to a labret stud and it doesnt rub as much. Just dont catch it in your teeth(it causes erosion to your teeth......(dont play with it)....
Hope that helped in some way!

you might try a switch to acrylic or PTFE jewelry....
i'm assuming that the lip is pierced with 14 gauge... i've just checked bodyartforms.com (where i get all the jewelry for my clients and myself) and they have acrylic 14 gauge captive bead rings and acrylic 14 gauge labret studs in stock.... so you might wanna give that a try.....
when i started stretching my tounge i was using stainless steel barbells.... when i got to a 4 gauge, the barbell was so heavy that it would hit the bottom of my mouth and the back of my gums...... started to erode a bit.... now that i've switched to only acrylic, i don't have that problem at all...... in fact, my 2 gauge acrylic is lighter in weight than a standard 14 gauge steel barbell.... so that's an obvious advantage.......
hope it helps, and good luck with your piercing.....

the acrylic is a softer material (obviously) than steel or titanium.... also, as i said, its lighter..... some of my clients have told me that after they switched to acrylic their problems with rubbing were dramatically reduced....
PTFE is insanely soft compared to acrylic.... so there's even less possibility there for long term damage.... also that, PTFE can be used as initial piercing jewelry cause it can be autoclaved.....
with either jewelry, you can order whatever outer ball you want.... metal or whatever.... as long as they'll fit......
if it were me, i'd go for PTFE till it's heal completely... then switch to acrylic....

I think you have to make sure whatever jewellry you have in fits right esp the length go see your piercer and get them to advise but bioflex is good too!
