can I take my own jewlery?ash903208 - 2004-07-28 19:48:32 Uhr
Can I take my own Jewelry to a piercing place? I'll be 18 soon. And right now, theres NO WAY my parents will get my get my nose pierced... But I just want a littel stud. Thats it. So I was HOPING maybe I could find something small and unnoticable.. To keep both of me & my parents happy... I got my belly button pierced at the beginning of December.. and my dad is STILL mad about it. My parents are extremely conservative.. And They've already pulled that "I dont care if your 18. You still live in my house, you'll follow my rules" @!#$...
So.. I dunno what to do, but I really want it, and it took me 2 weeks to convince them to let me get my belly button done.
Could I use a clear retainer until my parents get used to the fact that its pierced??

Some shops will allow you to bring your own jewelry,so you'll have to ask some of the ones in your area. Some piercings though need a slightly bigger jewelry, because of the swelling in the pierced area. The nostril doesn't swell to the piont thta you need special jewelry.Well I hope that I've helped, have fun,and good luck with your parents

A clear retainer is not to be used in a fresh piercing. I have had contact with several shops that would use acrylic (which is what most retainers are made of) and all of them I have had a problem with. You should never insert a piece of jewelry that is porous into a fresh piercing!!!! Notice the key word? I said NEVER. If you would like further information on this and other facts click on my link and message me. Sometimes it takes me a minute to get on here and check, but I always answer all messages.

Any shop that allows you to bring your own jewellery probably isnt that great a shop. However its bad of my to generalise, so if you do, make sure they bung your jewellery in the autoclave before they use it, just to be sure.
I sympathise with you about your parents. My moms exactly the same, and im 18 & off to uni in a matter of weeks.
Shes gone psycho at all my ear piercings, ive even been temporarily homeless over them!!
She hasnt seen my latest piercing (surface wrist) as ive kept it covered for the past 2 months, lol!!
Good luck!!
