Need an apprenticeship?

tattooyoutoo - 2004-09-29 16:16:18 Uhr

If you are wanting to do a piercing apprenticeship there are some things that most people don't know. Most people freak out when I inform them that they will have to pay up front for their apprenticeship into the business! "What? Why do I have to pay you to learn?" The answer to this is simple. Whether you realize it or not an apprentice costs the shop money and time. Time is a valuable asset and that alone is not free. The shop also has to buy supplies and training materials (no, these things are not free). Also there are the tools that you will use. Once you have reached a point where your trainer feels that you are at a competent level these tools become property of the former apprentice. You may be looking at a fee from anywhere between $3,000 and $10,000 cash. Compare this to the $40,000 you would spend at a university where you spend 4 to 5 years not even being prepared for real life situations in the profession you have chosen. Take it from me, I know. I have 2 associates and a bachelors degree and none of them prepared me for the work I would later be doing as well as an apprenticeship for piercing did. None of the schools I attended were as cost effective! I would trade any degree I have to be able to go back to when I was 18 so I could have saved money and had a career at an earlier stage of my life. If you want to learn piercing and make a career and life of it you will have to travel! Why? Do you think every piercer is a competent instructor? Answer, NO! A lot of shops view the apprentice as free labor. If you are considering a piercing or tattoo apprenticeship ask the artist to explain "IN WRITING" how the training will be conducted, approximately how long it should take, what is to be expected of you as an apprentice, and what will the fees be used for. In any situation you may be in this will protect you from being taken advantage of. If you are currently looking for an apprenticeship and all of the previous information makes sence to you, I am looking for an apprentice here in Brunswick located on the GA coast. I also do a personal interview (can be by phone or in person) and require a contract for employment after the apprenticeship is over. For more information contact me at tattooyoutoo@hotmail.com or on here.
