sweetpeagj - 2005-11-13 17:56:53 Uhr

Does anyone know when this area is going to be up and running?

Well there were legal issues about the adult area for the international users. On the german part of the site there already runs an adult area which is kinda restrictive and kinda complicated to access ... you must verify your age face to face in studios that offer this service all over the country (with some lacks in some regions). Since for the international part another company / webmaster is in charge that wont be necessary for piercing.com ... I expect the adult area here up and running within the next 10 weeks!

I have been questioning the legal status of the way 18 and over is established by a mouse click in the US, legally it just doesn’t make sense because the law is always interpreted by the matter of pure fact, meaning was the person in fact 18 or older? I’m not a lawyer, and am not giving legal advice, but as best I can remember it that’s what a real lawyer told me. I just got back from Switzerland where I had wonderful chats with people from all over the world. What I witnessed was strong evidence that America is years to decades behind the average European government. Please visit my personal page photo section if you are from America and want to see a picture of how they leave bicycles day and night- crime is definitely not as serious as it is in the states (I’ve seen at least 45 of 50 of the US states). I know a couple that lives in Suffolk County New York way out in the supposedly relatively safe suburbs that had their bicycles stolen out of their own garage twice! I feel that the American government is going to get more restrictive in the future, they dropped the ball for at least ten years as far as applying pornography laws to the Internet, which they are only just beginning to do. The Europeans seem to be very advanced in many ways. I recommend that any American reading this who has a serious interest in body piercing take a look at the wildcat .pdf catalog that is/was online here (can’t find it right now; please post directions to it as a reply if you know where it is now); they offer as common every day items the most advanced selection of products that I’ve seen anywhere!!!

Hi! Well I do not 100% agree cause alot of laws here are "stupid" too ... but in the end I'd prefer to live in germany or netherlands instead of living in the states ... the 3rd on the list might be canada ... I only was tehre once but really do like the country and people there ... but well that is the point I also love and care alot of so many us-friends I have and I always wonder how the bush adminitration could run for a second period ... they really ruin alot of what was "healed" and on its best ways under the clinton administration ... The biggest problem in the US on my opinion is FEAR ... it seems like people even fear their neighbors??!! I was travelling around the us in 2002 and 2003 more than 6.000 miles each year ... and I was doing that a couple of years before that and so much changed the last years ... not only 911 made that I think but it is one of the main reasons ... in my eyes the US already lost the "war against terror" because terror changed the whole country and alot of it people! The US is called "land of the free" but I have never seen a country with so many regulations and observation ... it is by no means the land of the free anymore! I love the interpretation of freedom by Rosa Luxemburg "Freiheit ist immer die Freiheit der Anderen" (engl: Freedom is always the freedom of the others) ... which maybe translates the best with Noam Chomskys words: "If we don't believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don't believe in it at all." ... that does not mean to tolerate or understand everything (terror, racism etc.) but to allow others the freedom which I want to have for myself ... the us wants to bring democracy to the world but cannot have a regular election themselves. Oooops ... but it goes far out off topic :-O About the adult area ... it's not that easy to do it by a mouseclick because we think it is important to have a closed / restricted area where kids cant easily walk in and out ... so we will make a small credicard charge or something else which only adults can do/have at hand ... that might be okay. In the end a kid that is clever enough to steal a creditcard or "hack the way into this" should be also clever enough to deal with the content ;-) ... its just to make it harder to excess than just make a click with your mouse!

Excellent posts wildcat-sts I really like the way you back up your statements with hard facts. I remember a day when pornography was rare and expensive, now it's virtually worthless; but it was far worse several years ago- they seem to have improved the search engines to nearly eliminate porn sites from turning up on humble search terms (like the word milk). For the most part neighbors don't want to know what the people next door are up to, is it different in Germany? The neighbors kids accidentally tossed a ball over into my yard, the father said "it's your ball now" as if he didn't even want me to toss it back! I must mention that I live on the East coast; there are friendlier people on the West coast (we call them the tree huggers). You are right that fear is the major motivator in the US, we ALL lock our doors, we ALL live in fear not of international terrorists, but of the stranger who lives next door. The US education system is in a poor state (and declining), our war on drugs seems to have failed decade after decade; and our balance of trade is so far off that when China decides to divest of dollars we will be in deep trouble, and to top it all off we are now of the disposition that we should police the world! The only thing we have to fear as Americans is the unknown, there is a lot that Americans don’t want to know, fear is fueling our ignorance of each other and the world economy with unworkable plans, plans that we simply can’t afford.
