I read a thread yesterday that got me thinking. It was about fashion slaves and basically picked on the so called stupid thing that are trends. But we are to blame. Not just the members of this site but everyone in our group. We lead fahion because we dont need to see ppl doing something to feel like its safe to do. eg. i only saw one person with piercings when i decided i wanted it done. Then after me somebody prolly saw both of us (me and the guy i saw) and wanted to be pierced and then a few people saw the three of us and wanted it and so on. My point is you cant be surprised that the masses are doing because we lead them there. back in the 70's NOBODY wore tight black leather except us and them in the 80's everybody was in it and in the 80's we were in the grunge phase and then wouldnt you know it grunge took over for the 90's. eventually peircing will take over and we'll move onto something else. Were the arrowhead of evolution. And while im on the subject i want to defend ppl who "grow outta this "phase" ppl say we're in" Its not growing up its retiring. i plan to do it. i figure by the time im 25 ill want to settle down. I'll take out the piercing and let the next generation take over. Not that theres anything wrong with not retiring either. That just my opinion. love it or hate it i dont care

I second that. You've got the point there, mate.
Actually I don't want to do certain things, because everyone has it. I prefer to stick to my own, unique style. I think it's stupid to do something just because the majority does it. I don't want to say that such people are spineless. I just reckon they're afraid of being the minority. People, whom you describe as 'fashion slaves', are just people who are used to follow the others and are afraid of doing something outrageous what noone has. A trend can be either successful or a flop and that's what such people are afraid of. They care about public opinion, mind you. ;)

all this right here is probably about some of the best sense i've heard in a while. people do follow trends, they do whats in and if its not in they move on. me personally..not a big fan of the majority..i prefer the minority...i have piercings because i like thme, i like having them there..not because other people have them(and to prove this..i have my nipples and bellybutton pierced...no one sees them hardly ever,,)and with the belly button pierced..not a lot of guys have that done..but hey..i justl iek having piercings..and i enjoy them...but it is definately becoming a trend and probably will die out for most people..mahbe even me..but right now i love them. well thats all i got..later

I have one question..if we lead then why is there so much whining on this site about people not accepting us? I don't put myself in any of the trends because I do everything for myself and I really don't care if it is accepted by those around me. I see so many on here wanting to be individual yet whine because it's not accepted or you get shunned by others. Stop being such slaves to society's thinking and don't care what others think. We all know that there are going to be comments, stares, missed job opportunities. So what is more important to you??
