I have heard both good and bad things about glow-in-the-dark tattoo ink, but I came here to find out if any of you have one and could tell me about the affects. I think it would be really cool to get one because: 1) you could hide it easily and 2) it would be really cool to have! But if you have one or know anyone that does, please let me know how it went! thanks!

hello there.... i'm proud to say that i have a total of three UV ink tattoos.... one is the words "MOMENTO MORI" down the inside of my left arm in white UV ink... glows blue under UV light...... then i have the tribal on my right upper arm lined with the white UV ink.... and finally, i have the word FREAK above the tribal i spoke of in red UV ink..... glows bright orange in UV light.....
first of all, you spoke of 'glow in the dark' tattoo ink...... it should be mentioned that UV and glow in the dark are two very separate things.... the UV only glows under a blacklight..... glow in the dark glows by harnessing ambient light in phosphorus and slowly releasing that light energy..... thus producing the glowing effect.... it should also be mentioned that glow in the dark tattoo ink, though once used, has been proven to be VERY VERY dangerous.... it's not even produced anymore...... those poor souls who did get G.I.T.D. ink might have well just asked for cancer straight out.... cause they got it....... the phosphorus is very toxic....
the UV ink that i have made use of is produced by a company called Crazy Chameleon..... the ink is processed in such a way that each individual pigment, that is suspened in the substrate (saline), is incased in a shell made of a space age polycarbonate.... this shell keeps the possibly harmful ingredients of the pigment from ever coming into direct contact with flesh... i say possibly because there has yet to be a link between these ingredients and danergous sideeffects....
the shell is indestructable.... save for freezing.... if the ink is frozen, the shell well later become ineffective..... though lets face it.... if it gets cold enough to do this, you've already got frostbite anyway.... so that would be the least of your worries.....
when i first got tattooed with this ink, my tattooist had never worked with such an ink..... in fact, he didn't even know how to go around to get a supply of it..... so i did some research for him, found Crazy Chamelion and bought a total of 8 colors..... an 8 ounce bottle of white, and 4 ounce bottles of ultramarine blue, cobalt blue, violet, fire red, orange, lemon yellow, and yellow orange.... in exchange for buying the ink, he gave me the tattoos......
the experience was a bit different than a conventional tattoo.... first of all, the ink is a bit runnier.... so he had to work the skin a bit more than usual.... second, when using the white ink, he had to have UV lights on at all times.... this was a bit of a problem because he still had to be able to see how to do everything else he needed to.... but that was fixed by purchasing two 5 foot floresent fixtures, each holding two bulbs..... we set those up with 4 5 foot UV bulbs...... then we used a small desk light to provide conventional light over his equipment...... this seems to have worked better than everything else we've tried so far......... so that is what i'd suggest......
the healing was nothing unlike that of a normal tattoo..... though since he couldn't work the skin too much without scarring me up, we had to do several more sessions to completely fill in the white areas....... if you have mediem white skin, not pale, but not too tan...... you'll not be able to see the white ink at all.....
all in all, i love my UV......... i'm planning to get more work done...
here is the URL for that UV ink supply company i used.... check it out...
