After care instructions for everyone.

AmeliaHorror - 2007-07-11 23:58:01 Uhr

Now these may not be the way someone told you to take care of your piercing or tattoo, but these are the instructions that I have learned through experience, working in 5 different shops and growing up in the body mod. community, generally work the best. I would also like to add that everyone heals differently so it isn't always easy to guage healing times. 1. Tattoo after care: Wait about two hours to remove the bandage. then (Using only your fingertips) wash off all of the dried plasma using warm water and anti-bacterial hand soap. Then Apply a THIN coat of A&D ointment. Repeat 3 to 4 times a day for 4 to 5 days. After 4 to 5 days start putting a non scented lotion on it when it feels dry or tight. Peeling is normal so don't worry. DON'T- pick, rub, or scratch at your tattoo. no tanning beds, no swimming, and no direct sunlight until it is healed. and I advise using sunscreen if you want your tattoo to look good later on in life. 2. General piercing care: Clean 2 to 3 times a day with anti-bacterial hand soap, for the first 2 weeks. After that continue cleaning it at least once a day. Do not change the jewlery for at least 2 months (time also depends on how you heal and what piercing you have. DON'T- put your dirty hands all over it (hands have germs and germs cause infection), use peroxide (it can cause the piercing to get infected), use neosporin, Rubbing alcohol, go swimming in a lake or pond(dirty water equals infection. 3. Oral piercing care: Keep ice on it (eating the ice counts as keeping it on the piercing) for about three days to keep the swelling down. After you eat, drink, smoke, or do anything with your mouth, you are going to need to rinse with listerine. It also helps if you use Gly-Oxide (you can find it in the mouth wash section of any wal-mart or drug store) 2 times a day. If you have Any qestions feel free to ask.
